She won 12 Grammy’s, sold more concert tickets than any solo performer in history, and her songs have touched the hearts of millions. She’s simply the best!
“Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” is at Calgary’s Jubilee Auditorium from March 18-23, presented by Broadway Across Canada.
The show is a jukebox revue and tells the story of Tina Turner’s rise to Queen of Rock through her own music. Will we finally learn what love has got to do with it after all?
Playing the titular role, Jayna Elise is no stranger to the stage, although this is her first time performing in musical theatre.
Elise comes to the role after competing as a finalist on both American Idol and America’s Got Talent.
She said the length of the tour and performing the same three hour show every night is a bit of a time warp and makes it hard to keep track of the days. But she is happy for the challenge.
“The show just in general is such a beast, so difficult. It has definitely been an eye opener for me just to know what I can do, what I can’t do,” Elise said.
The show runs about three hours in length.
