A man has life-altering injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s southwest Wednesday night.
Calgary police say it happened just after 10:30 p.m. at Macleod Trail near Southland Drive.
A 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening and life-altering injuries, according to police.
Investigators believe a 2014 Mercedes-Benz B 250, driven by a man in his 30s, was driving south on Macleod Trail SW, passing through the intersection with Southland Drive on a green light.
At the same time, a pedestrian, near the south crosswalk, walked in front of the path of the car and was hit.
Investigators say the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation.
Impairment and excessive speeds aren’t believed to be factors in the collision. The incident is still under investigation by police.
Roads in the area were closed for nearly five hours, but have since re-opened to traffic.
Anyone who saw the collision or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
