Man charged, drugs and guns seized in Calgary home with small child present

A man is facing nearly a dozen charges after police found drugs and guns in a southeast Calgary home where a small child lived.

Calgary police carried out multiple search warrants on Friday after they found out about suspected drug activity in at a home in the community of Lynwood, according to a news release.

A man was arrested and police seized a 12-gauge breacher shotgun with the serial number removed, a 22-caliber rifle stored with ammunition, 25 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of methamphetamine.

Investigators believe a small child lived at the home. The child was not present during the searches and is currently safe, according to police.

Mitchell Scott Woods, 32, faces 11 criminal charges relating to drugs and illegal firearms.

Woods is scheduled to appear in court next Monday.
