Police say calls came in to police around 11 p.m. from shocked witnesses who spotted the stolen truck driving south on Macleod Trail at Canyon Meadows Drive SE.

Officers picked up the chase, using cruisers to box in the truck near James McKevitt Road SW.

Police say several cruisers were hit during the incident.

Another video posted to social media captures the arrest of the driver outside Fish Creek Station.

Area roads were closed for a few hours to allow for an investigation but have since reopened.

Alec John McLennan, 28, has been charged with one count each of dangerous driving, flight from police, hit-and-run, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with a court order.

He was found to have outstanding criminal warrants, was in breach of previous release conditions and had a provincially suspended license.

McLennan was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

He is scheduled to next appear in court on April 10.
