One man is dead and another is fighting for his life after a shooting in northeast Calgary on Thursday night.

Calgary police were called to a home on Coral Springs Circle NE for reports two people had been shot.

When officers got to the scene, police found two men suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The pair were taken to hospital, where police say one person succumbed to their injuries.

The second man is still in hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Police say there were four people living as roommates in the house and a dispute between them led to the shooting.

“[It was] quite shocking for the other people that were there,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson with the CPS Homicide Unit. “It’s just a tragic incident that occurred in this house.”

No information is being released about the deceased or the other individuals living in the house.

Police say the incident is not domestic in nature, or connected to any organized crime or gang.

Officers are still on scene speaking with witnesses and collecting CCTV from the area.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
