A fire destroyed half a dozen vehicles at a car dealership in northeast Calgary on Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called CMP Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC dealership on 36 Street NE just south of 16 Avenue around 6:10 a.m. for reports of a fire.

Calgary Fire Department (CFD) spokesperson Carol Henke says crews could see smoke as they were leaving the fire station and arrived to find multiple vehicles and a fence on fire.

The fire was brought under control by around 6:30 a.m., but not before a number of vehicles were destroyed.

“Approximately six vehicles are destroyed, they’re all gas and diesel vehicles,” says CFD spokesperson Carol Henke. “A shed sustained some heat damage and a fence was destroyed as well.”

    No injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and officials are still trying to determine the cause.

Anyone with information about the fire is being urged to contact the Calgary Fire Department.
