Police looking for driver after back alley hit-and-run in SE Calgary

Police are trying to identify a driver after a hit-and-run crash in an alleyway in southeast Calgary earlier this year.

Calgary police say the collision occurred in a back alley of Rivercrest Circle SE in the community of Riverbend around 10 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Police say a pedestrian was walking eastbound in the alley when they were sideswiped by a white car that was heading westbound. The car then fled the area.

The pedestrian called for help and was taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to police.

“After exhausting all investigative avenues to identify the suspect and locate the vehicle, police are turning to the public in hopes of advancing the investigation,” reads a release from Calgary Police.

Police have released a security photo of the suspect vehicle they describe as a white four-door Volkswagen Jetta.

Anyone with information is being urged to call police at 403-266-1234, or submit tips to CrimeStoppers anonymously.
