Teen hit by vehicle while skateboarding in NW Calgary, in life-threatening condition

A teenager is fighting for his life after being hit by a vehicle in Calgary’s northwest Wednesday evening.
Calgary police say just before 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Hunterview Drive NW and Hunterbrook Road NW for reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.
Investigators say at the time, a 2011 Buick Enclave, driven by a 79-year-old woman, was travelling south on Hunterview Drive NW, approaching the intersection with Hunterbrook Road NW.
Police believe at the same time, a 17-year-old boy on a skateboard entered the intersection from Hunterbrook Road NW when he was hit by the Buick.
The teen suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was take to hospital.
The driver stayed at the scene and wasn’t injured.
Excessive speed, drugs, and alcohol aren’t considered to be factors in this collision.
The Traffic Unit continues to investigate, and anyone who may have information or dashcam footage related to the incident is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
