Calgary will get its first taste of warm, summer-like weather in the coming days.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says it will all start Friday with a forecasted high of 26 C.
Saturday is expected to get even warmer, with a high of 27 C.
There will be a brief cool down and the potential for rain on Sunday. ECCC says the high that day will drop to 13 C.
The rest of the week looks like it will be nice and warm; 16 C on Monday, 20 C on Tuesday, 28 C on Wednesday, and 24 C on Thursday.
Warm weather prompts spring cleaning of Alberta highways
A change in season usually calls for a reset, and provincial and city roads are no exception.
RCMP are encouraging caution for drivers hitting the highways this weekend.
The province-wide highway cleanup is scheduled for Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If the forecast changes dramatically and prevents volunteers from getting out, the tidy will be moved to May 10.
More than 12,000 people are expected to participate, 8,000 of whom will be kids from 4H Clubs, Junior Forest Wardens, and other youth groups.
Participants will be wearing safety vests and there will be caution posters placed near cleanup areas.
Drivers are asked to slow down in marked cleanup areas and to be aware of higher-than-usual foot traffic.
Police will be out and about to ensure traffic safety and prevent speeding in these areas.
