An Alberta woman is facing a number of charges after Mounties responded to reports north of Calgary about a suspect carrying chainsaws fleeing in a U-Haul truck.
Olds RCMP say they got a call around 3:05 p.m. Monday about a suspicious male carrying two chainsaws who jumped into a U-Haul that was seen driving dangerously.
Officers found the truck and tried to stop it on Highway 587, west of the town of Bowden, when the vehicle allegedly drove into Red Lodge Provincial Park, damaging a gate in the process.
Mounties from Innisfail and Didsbury were called to the area to help find the vehicle.
Around 3:45 p.m., RCMP got another call that a farmer’s land was damaged, along with fencing on multiple other properties. Responding officers found the same U-Haul near Range Road 12 and Highway 587.
Police saw the woman driver walking southbound away from the vehicle and arrested her. After some help from area residents, RCMP located and arrested the outstanding suspects.
Officers searched the U-Haul and found stolen property, including a tool bag and two chainsaws.
Wetaskiwin resident Judith White, 52, is facing several charges including possession of stolen property, fleeing an officer, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
