A Calgary bar manager is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting an employee and a prospective employee earlier this year.
Calgary police began investigating in January after a woman went for a job interview at Fire N Ice near 8 Street and 17 Avenue SW in the Beltline neighbourhood.
It is alleged the manager touched the woman inappropriately during the interview and temporarily prevented her from leaving the bar. The victim called police after she was able to leave.
In April, a second woman who was an employee at Fire N Ice went out with friends to another downtown bar when she ran into the manager. While at the bar, the manager allegedly inappropriately touched her without her consent.
Later the same night, the woman and her friends went to a downtown residence with the manager where it is alleged he continued to inappropriately touch her. The woman reported it to police the next day.
Police have charged 31-year-old Calgary resident Ankit Drall with two counts of sexual assault and one count of unlawful confinement.
He is scheduled to appear in court in July.
“I want to thank the victims who came forward,” says CPS District 1 Staff Sgt. Paul Ralstin. “We recognize how difficult that can be and the trauma involved. Their courage allowed us to advance this investigation.”
