Small plane crashes at Springbank airport, pilot left with minor injuries

By CityNews Staff

Canada’s Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is investigating after a small plane crashed at Springbank Airport, west of Calgary, on Friday.

The TSB says the incident involved an amateur-built aircraft.

The Calgary Airport Authority confirms it happened just before 7:30 a.m. when the small, private plane went off the runway during landing at the Springbank Airport.

One pilot was on board with no passengers, it adds. Emergency services responded to the scene and the pilot was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure with minor injuries.

The plane has since been removed from the area and TSB authorities are investigating.
