Calgary is under a heat warning with summer-like weather expected to linger for most of the week and into the weekend.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says the city can expect daytime temperatures reaching or exceeding 29 C, and overnight lows near 14 C, starting Wednesday and lasting into Thursday night.
Residents are being urged to take the following precautions while the warning is in effect:
- Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day
- Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time in cooled indoor spaces where possible
- Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated
- Check for your children or pets before you exit your vehicle. Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time
People should also monitor for symptoms of heat stroke and play close attention to more vulnerable people, including infants, children, seniors, outdoor workers and people with lung, heart, kidney, or other compromising health conditions.

The warm weather is expected to continue Friday and into Saturday with daytime highs of 26 C and 27 C expected. A cool down is expected Sunday with a high of 14 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers.
