A northwest Calgary high school was put into lockdown Tuesday afternoon following reports a person had entered the building with a weapon.

Calgary police say officers headed to James Fowler High School on 4 Street NW near 40 Avenue NW around 12:35 p.m.

Police say responding officers thoroughly checked the school, but the suspect left before officers arrived.

“Police are investigating the incident and reviewing evidence to confirm if a weapon was involved,” reads an update from CPS.

The lockdown at the school was lifted by 1:50 p.m.
