Calgary police are asking the public for help to identify a person who ran over an on-duty firefighter and fled the scene last month.

On Friday, May 23, just before noon, an unknown man believed to be driving a stolen 2017 blue Ford Fusion, was driving west on 2 Avenue NE at a high rate of speed.

Police say the Ford hit an on-duty member of the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) who was conducting a building inspection.

The firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicle also hit a 2008 black Porsche Cayenne that was parked along the street, before coming to a stop.

Investigators say the driver left the scene on foot, heading south.

The suspect is described as a man who was wearing a black hoodie and black pants at the time of the incident.

Police took the vehicle in as evidence and, through an investigation, were able to determine it was stolen earlier in the morning from the southwest community of Silverado.
