Shots fired in targeted break-in at NE home: Calgary police

By CityNews Staff

Calgary police say shots were fired after three suspects broke into a home in the northeast Castleridge area in a targeted incident Saturday.

They say reports came in from a home on the 100 block of Castlebrook Way at around 4 a.m.

Calgary police S. Sgt John Guigon says the suspects kicked in the door to a basement suite in the home.

“Fortunately, the occupants were able to barricade themselves inside a room and were not harmed. They could hear the offenders rummaging about and did hear a couple of shots being fired,” he told 660 NewsRadio.

Police were on the scene within minutes, but the suspects had already fled.

No injuries were reported.

However, investigators believe it was a targeted attack and are now investigating.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
