Calgary Transit says the Blue Line from downtown to the northeast Marlborough station will be closed until early Monday for maintenance.
Trains heading to the northeast will end at the City Hall/Bow Valley College Station, while trains heading downtown from the northeast will end at Marlborough Station. However, they will be replaced with three shuttle bus routes.
One route will visit all the stations in between every 10 minutes–save for the Zoo Station, which has a separate shuttle travelling on another route from Bridgeland/Memorial Station and the Zoo only every 20 minutes.
A third route is an express shuttle bus travelling from City Hall/Bow Valley College and Marlborough station only, with no other stops, every 10 minutes.
The maintenance includes continued lighting replacement in the 36 Street Tunnel, work on the pedestrian bridge in Bridgeland, Memorial Drive maintenance, and “signal safety improvements.”
Transit says it’s trying to keep things minimally disruptive, but some work is too large to complete without closures.
“Some work can be completed while keeping the trains on track, but there are certain projects that are just too big, or can’t share the space safely while trains are in service, and they require fully closing off sections of the line,” Transit said.
“Occasionally, a power cut is required to carry out specific work, which also means we need to close the line to train travel.”
