Calgary police have released an AI-generated image of a man found dead last spring, with the hope of identifying him and finding his family.
The man’s body was found by a passerby around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, on the riverbank near Memorial Drive and 10 Street NW.
Days later, an autopsy concluded the man’s death wasn’t suspicious.
A composite sketch of the man was released to the public by police in May of last year, but he remains unidentified.
All other traditional methods of identifying the man have also been unsuccessful, police say.
The man is believed to have been between 55 and 70 years old at the time of his death.
He was around six feet tall, approximately 230 pounds, with a light skin tone, blonde or grey hair, blue eyes, and some facial hair.
The man was also wearing a pair of brown hiking boots with orange and black soles when he was found.
“While we make every effort to ensure that next of kin notifications happen in private settings, we also recognize the immense grief that comes with unanswered questions. Our commitment is to help families find the answers they deserve,” the department said in a statement.
Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
