Motorcyclist dead following crash on Centre Street in north Calgary

A motorcyclist is dead following a crash along Centre Street in north Calgary on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Centre Street N and 12 Avenue around 4 p.m. Friday for reports of a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle.

Images from the scene show a damaged SUV and motorcycle in the middle of the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where they were pronounced dead.

The intersection of Centre Street N and 12 Avenue was closed for several hours. The roads reopened shortly after 9 p.m.
