Suspect charged after utility vehicle stolen from SE Calgary community centre

Police are thanking the public after charging one of two men accused in a break-in at a southeast Calgary community centre last month.

Calgary police say two suspects broke into the storage garage at the Lake Sundance community centre in the early morning hours of July 18.

It is alleged the pair stole a 2024 Gator utility vehicle and drove it to a nearby alley where they left it for two days before returning and loading it onto a flatbed trailer hitched to a Ford pickup truck and leaving the area.

Police released photos of the pickup truck and utility trailer two weeks ago to find the pair.

On Friday, Calgary police announced tips from the public allowed officers to find one of the suspects. Police have also found the Ford pickup truck involved in the theft.

Police say 62-year-old Brent Richard Norris has been charged with one count of breaking and entering. He will appear in court in September.

A photo of the second suspect has been released. He is described as a man with a light complexion and slim build, last seen wearing dark-coloured cuffed work gloves and coveralls, and black boots.
