2 critically injured in SE Calgary incident found with help of Good Samaritan

Two people are critical condition after one was found covered in blood, and another trapped underneath debris in a yard at a SE Calgary business.

A Good Samaritan stopped to help a woman found bloodied and crawling on the street, who was calling for anyone to help a man severely injured and trapped under debris in southeast Calgary, police said.

Police say a woman was found bloodied and crawling in traffic near the 5500 block of 5 Street SE, a few blocks from Blackfoot Trail in the Manchester Industrial area, at around 7:50 a.m.

Staff Sgt. John Guigon says she was desperate to find help, and a Good Samaritan stopped.

“The first vehicle she managed to see–or managed to see her–pulled over right away and administered some first aid. She was quite … flummoxed, and was repeatedly saying her friend was dying,” he told 660 NewsRadio.

The woman explained her friend was trapped in a nearby yard of a local business.

Guigon says the Samaritan didn’t run to the victim, but called police right away, who then arrived minutes later.

Police went to the location and found and freed, with the help of the fire department, the severely injured man trapped under some overturned pallets.

The two were then rushed to hospital in critical condition

Details of the incident are still under investigation.
