RCMP find body of Calgary man who fell into Kananaskis lake after canoe capsized

Mounties say they have found the body of a man who went missing after his family’s canoe capsized in Kananaskis over the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to Barrier Lake around 6:30 p.m. Saturday for reports that three people fell out of a canoe.

RCMP say a 60-year-old man was found dead at the scene and a 56-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with hypothermia. A 30-year-old man was reported missing.

In an update on Wednesday, the RCMP says their underwater recovery team has recovered the body of the missing man.

Police confirmed to CityNews that the three people in the canoe were all family members — a father, mother, and a son.
