By CityNews Staff

With two weekends left in Calgary before fall kicks into gear, there are plenty of activities and events for Calgarians to check out.

Whether that’s food, fireworks, and laughs, Calgary’s weekend is a packed one.

Here’s a list of several events this weekend.

GlobalFest 2025

Calgary’s international fireworks festival, which brings several countries together for a fireworks competition, has its last day on Saturday.

The festival, under the theme “Panasia,” happens at Elliston Park at 9:30 p.m.

The final day’s pyromusical show is focused on Canada, which will feature teams from the U.S.A., Malaysia, the Philippines, China, and, of course, Canada.

Tickets are $12.50 for a single ticket, though there are usually plenty of chances to snag premier seating or VIP passes over the five days early in the year or when the previous one finishes.

More information can be found online.

YYC FanFair Too

For comic book enthusiasts, you can check out the celebration of fandom on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association on Centre Street North.

The event features vendors offering the best in comics, toys, video games, cards, collectibles, and more.

You can also support local talented artists showcasing their one-of-a-kind creations.

Organizer Stevce Hodges says it’s about affordability.

The Canadian Veterans Service Society will also be on hand to take donations.

More can be found on the YYC Fan Fair website.

RibFest

The Western Canada Ribfest Tour returns to Calgary this weekend.

McKenzie Towne Gate SE is the site of the three-day festival featuring live entertainment, food trucks, and those award-winning barbecue ribs.

Partnering with McKenzie Towne council, Ribfest is charging $5 per person at the gate in support of the community non-profit.

The family-friendly event began Friday at 11 a.m.

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival

The yearly comedy festival is here in Calgary starting Friday.

Adam Ray is Dr. Phil live, and Mark Normand will be headlining Friday’s show along with Ms. Pat and Grace O’Malley.

Theo Von, Chelcie Lynn, and Kam Patterson will perform Saturday, and Bery Kreischer, Whitney Cummings, and Derrick Stroup take the stage on Sunday.

It’s happening at Prince’s Island Park, and Friday and Sunday shows start at 7:30 p.m. Saturday has two shows, with the first at 3:30 p.m. and the second at 8:30 p.m.

Info about the show, including how to get tickets, can be found online.

Calgary Stampeders vs Saskatchewan Roughriders

Football fans will have plenty to cheer about as the Calgary Stampeders take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders this Saturday.

It’s at McMahon Stadium and starts at 5 p.m.

The Roughriders have an 8-1 record so far this season–winning four in a row, while the home team is still sitting pretty with a 6-3 record.

Calgary is looking for a second straight win against the Roughriders when they played in a postponed game on July 12. It was postponed due to poor air quality.

Eastern Slopes Music Festival

The Eastern Slopes Music and Arts Festival is happening for one day only at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association on Saturday.

The festival, in its second year, will host local artists over two stages.

Fourteen acts will be both indoors and outdoors.

There will also be an arts market for anyone to enter for free, along with food trucks and drinks.

Tickets online are $45 and $50 at the door.

You can head to the festival website for more information.
