A Calgary man is facing several charges, accused of breaking into multiple northeast homes and stealing various sentimental items.

Investigators say on Saturday, July 26, between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m., a man broke into various houses, garages, and sheds on 3 Avenue NE and 4 Avenue NE in Crescent Heights.

Around 7 a.m., a homeowner called police to report an unknown man in his backyard. Police later determined the suspect had broken into that man’s garage and stole several items.

Officers responded and found the suspect. He was arrested and found to be in possession of several items that police say were stolen from various victims.

As the investigation went on, police returned several of the items to area residents.

However, one victim is still missing various sentimental items that police believe were taken during the string of break and enters.

The items yet to be recovered include Second World War medals passed on from the victim’s family, a Paralympic medal, an Order of Canada medal, two Queen’s Jubilee medals, and an Alberta Sports Hall of Fame golf ring.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the missing items to contact police.

Twenty-four-year-old Melfert Jaaron ThreeSuns has now been charged with four counts of break and enter, obstructing a police officer, possession of stolen property under $5,000, five counts of possession of a stolen credit card, two counts of possession of an identity document, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of fentanyl.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 10.
