Calgary police arrest carjacking suspect in SE

A man accused of assaulting a victim and stealing their car in southeast Calgary on Friday has been arrested, police say.

Officers say they responded to shots fired in the city’s southeast at around 8:30 p.m. on the 700 block of 15 Avenue SE.

They say a victim was found assaulted after their vehicle was stolen. No signs of gunshot wounds were found.

Police then say responding officers found the suspect nearby with the help of HAWCS, who had ditched the vehicle, and arrested him after a short foot chase.

As of late Friday night, no charges have been laid.

An investigation is ongoing.
