Police trying to identify suspect in hate-motivated attack in SE Calgary

Calgary police are asking for the public's help in identifying this man who they believe to be responsible for a hate-motivated assault that occurred in the southeast community of Erin Woods.

Calgary police are asking for help identifying a man believed to be responsible for a hate-motivated assault in the city’s southeast earlier this year.

The incident occurred on June 30 at approximately 4:45 p.m. near the intersection of 52 Street and Erin Woods Drive SE in the Erin Woods community.

According to police, the suspect exited a Calgary Transit bus, followed closely by the victim. Without warning, the suspect allegedly physically attacked the victim while shouting racial slurs.

Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene in a black SUV, heading northbound toward 17 Avenue SE.

Police describe the suspect as a man between 5’7″ and 6’0″ tall with a medium build. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a dark baseball cap and a grey shirt.
