‘Pause for Pets’: Take a moment to meet Apawlo!

In this week’s Pause for Pets, we take a moment to introduce you to Apawlo, a doberman mix who is currently staying with a foster family while waiting for his ride-or-die to show up.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Absolutely. I’m Apawlo — a tall, dark and handsome doberman mix with legs for days, a shiny coat and a personality that is part goofball, part cuddlebug and part undercover security guard.

I bond super closely with my people and once I decide you’re mine, it’s ride or die. Sometimes I can be a little suspicious of new humans but give me time, space, and a few treats and I move past the stranger danger to let you into my inner circle.

Also a hard pass on cats — I tend to get uber fixated and cannot share space with felines.

Typical daily tasks?

They include morning yard patrol and zoomies, wrestling matches and chase games with my dog roommates, snuggles with my foster human, ball time (not optional) and looking dapper.

I’m working on sharing (rather than hoarding) toys, leash manners and perfecting my impulse control. I’ve spent the past few months brushing up on my wrestling technique, learning proper toy etiquette, and perfecting my signature ball-fetching style.

Interests and hobbies?

Ball. That’s it. Just ball. (Okay and maybe tug toys, too.) Play time with other dogs, zooming about the yard like a magical gazell and training sessions (even better when snacks are involved.)

What are you looking for in a home?

I would love a cat-free, fun-loving home. In return you’ll get loyal companionship. I’m your shadow once we click and will be your ride-or-die friend. My new person or people needs to be consistent, patient, and have experience with dogs who may have a few quirks.

Bonus if you have a fenced yard. Double bonus if you have a varied collection of balls. I’ve been at Animal Services since June and am ready to find my home. If you are looking for a dog who’s equal parts athlete, goofball and heartstealer — I’m your guy.
