Police seek public’s help in SE Calgary vehicle arson investigation

Calgary police are asking the public for help following a suspected vehicle arson that occurred in the city’s southeast.
On Sunday at around 5:45 p.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire on 27 Street SE just north of 17 Avenue SE, in the Radisson Heights neighbourhood.
Upon arrival, they discovered a black Hyundai Kona on fire in an alleyway behind a home. The Calgary Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators now believe the fire may have been deliberately set.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police have released images of a vehicle of interest seen in the area around the time of the incident. The car is described as an early 2000s orange Mazda 3, last spotted heading westbound on 17 Avenue SE from 28 Street SE.
Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or has dashcam footage of the area bounded by 27 Street SE and 28 Street SE, between 15 Avenue SE and 17 Avenue SE, is asked to contact the police.
