Two men initially charged in connection with a violent downtown stabbing in July are now facing second-degree murder charges following the death of the victim.

On July 24, 2025, Calgary police responded to reports of a stabbing and robbery near the Calgary Drop-In Centre on Dermot Baldwin Way SE.

Officers arrived to find 37-year-old Gurdeep Singh Mundi suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Members of the Mounted Patrol Team, who were already in the area, quickly found and arrested two suspects nearby.

Neil Henderson, 36, and Donovan Cameron Collins, 34, were initially charged with aggravated assault.

Mundi died from his injuries in the hospital nearly three weeks later.

Following court proceedings and the victim’s death, both suspects have now had their charges upgraded to second-degree murder.

The pair appeared in court on Wednesday and remain in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 22.
