One person is dead following an early morning fire that broke out in a mobile home in southeast Calgary.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. after a security guard spotted flames coming from a neighbouring property near 24 Street and 86 Avenue SE.

Upon arrival, Calgary Fire Department crews found smoke and flames pouring from the windows of a mobile home.

Firefighters launched an exterior attack while a second engine secured a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Crews then entered the structure to continue battling the blaze and search for occupants.

During the search, one person was found dead inside the home. No other occupants were found.

The fire was successfully contained to the mobile home, with no damage reported to surrounding structures.

Police say there is currently no evidence linking this incident to the recent fire at the former Ogden Legion building, located about one kilometre away.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information, photos, or video footage taken before fire crews arrived to contact the Calgary Fire Department at piofire@calgary.ca.
