A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being struck by a freight train in downtown Calgary Monday morning.

One person has been taken to hospital in serious condition after being hit by a freight train in downtown Calgary Monday morning.

Calgary police say it happened around 7:50 a.m.

The incident happened at 1 Street SE and 10 Avenue SE.

Police say traffic in the area will be impacted due to the train removal process.
