Double stabbing in NE Calgary leaves two hurt; suspect in custody

Police are investigating a stabbing that left two people hurt in the northeast Calgary community of Martindale on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to reports of an assault with a weapon near Martindale Drive NE and Martindale Boulevard NE at around 12:25 p.m.

Upon arrival, they located a victim who was rushed to hospital in stable condition. A second victim was later found and also taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police initially said that no suspects were in custody and that the victim and offender were believed to be known to each other. However, a short time later, they confirmed that the suspect had been located and taken into custody.

Investigators do not believe any additional suspects are involved.

Officers remain on scene as the investigation continues.
