Two people have been displaced after their Coventry Hills home in northeast Calgary went up in flames Saturday evening, the city’s fire department said.
A second alarm was called, says a Calgary Fire Department (CFD) release, after crews responded to reports of a fire on the 0-100 block of Covepark Terrace at around 6 p.m.
With firefighters reporting smoke and flames seeping through the two-storey single-family home, a water tower was set up to help them attack the blaze.
The extent of the damage to the home from the flames, smoke, and water is “extensive, crews say. A firefighter also had to be assessed by EMS on scene, but no other injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, the two residents weren’t home at the time, and Calgary firefighters added that they’ll be “displaced for an undetermined amount of time.”
An investigation into the cause is underway.
