Calgary police have charged a fourth teen with first-degree murder in the death of a 16-year-old boy in the city’s northeast last summer.
Carter Spivak-Villeneuve was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 1 when he was on his way to his home in Abbeydale.
Investigators charged three 15-year-old boys with first-degree murder earlier this month. Now, a 16-year-old has also been charged.
Police have previously said they believe the group of suspects knew the victim and arranged to meet him that night.
“Carter’s death is alleged to be the result of an ongoing dispute,” the Calgary Police Service said last week.
The fourth suspect was arrested Tuesday in Calgary and is expected to make a court appearance on Wednesday.
“We know that no arrest can take away the pain that Carter’s family is experiencing. Our thoughts remain with them as they continue to grieve,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the CPS Homicide Unit. “At this time we are not looking for any additional suspects.”
