Mysterious fireball lights up Calgary sky

A mysterious light streaked across the sky Sunday night, and one Calgarian happened to catch it on camera.
Joseph Madamesila recorded the glowing object over Spruce Meadows in the city’s south end and shared it online, sparking a wave of reactions and speculation.
“I posted it and was like, ‘okay, maybe some people would be interested,’ he says. “And then my phone starts buzzing, and I get like 100 notifications and people are commenting.”
“It was a cool way to have a viral post that I wasn’t expecting.”
The video quickly gained traction, with people debating whether the fireball was a meteor, space debris, or something more unusual.
CityNews spoke with a University of Calgary professor, who suggested the phenomenon was most likely space junk re-entering the atmosphere. However, they noted that further review of the footage would be needed before making a definitive conclusion.
