Calgary downtown CTrain service returns after collision shut down 7 Ave stations

By CityNews Staff

Calgary Transit’s Red and Blue lines are back on track after a collision shut down service downtown on Saturday.

Announcing on social media just before 11:30 a.m., the city’s transit service said CTrains would not be able to travel through the 7 Avenue stations due to a collision.

It’s unclear what happened at this time, but preliminary reporting suggests a vehicle collided with the side of a CTrain.

Calgary police had no information to share, and EMS reported no injuries.

Transit officials said online just before 1 p.m. that 7 Avenue downtown is open, but CTrains will be behind schedule until service returns to normal.

Shuttle buses were in place for travel between 8 Street and City Hall.

Shuttles were also in place heading to the northwest from the 7 Street Station, to the west from the 8 Street Station, to the northeast from the City Hall Station, and to the south from the City Hall/Bow Valley College station.

The city made the announcement on social media at around 11:18 a.m., later adding that 7 Avenue and Centre Street was closed.
