Police are investigating after a family allegedly walked out of a northeast Calgary salon without paying for more than $800 worth of services.
Calgary Police say an online report was filed on Monday detailing a fraud incident that occurred on Dec. 19, at Harvest Salon and Spa, near Harvest Hills Boulevard and 96 Avenue NE.
According to investigators, two women and a child spent roughly seven to eight hours at the salon receiving multiple hair services valued at approximately $800.
When it came time to pay, staff say one of the women claimed she had left her wallet in her vehicle and would return shortly. The group never came back.
Salon owner Beant Dhaliwal says the situation has left her team shaken, especially given the trust they placed in the family.
“We’ve never had, like basically a family, come in and just leave,” Dhaliwal said. “We were so trusting of the family. They were saying they have Christmas plans, all this stuff. They have a child with them.”
Dhaliwal says her stylist was devastated after realizing the clients had no intention of returning.
“Our stylist was very trusting, and when this happened, she was so distraught,” she said.
The salon has since implemented stricter ID and deposit requirements for lengthy or high‑value appointments to prevent similar incidents.
Calgary police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
