Calgary man out on bail facing long list of weapons, drug charges

A man in Calgary has been charged with multiple offences including the possession of several different weapons, and police tell CityNews he was also violating the conditions of his bail release.

Police have charged a man who was out on bail with a long list of offences after officers seized multiple weapons, drugs and stolen property during a raid in January.

According to the Calgary Police Service (CPS), investigators began looking into the man in the fall of 2025 after learning he was allegedly breaching conditions of his bail.

Over several months, officers gathered evidence suggesting he was selling drugs in multiple locations, including the East Village, from a Mercedes-Benz and from a home in the northeast community of Coventry Hills.

Police executed search warrants on Jan. 12, targeting the home on Covington Rise NE, a detached garage and the Mercedes.

Inside the home, officers seized five handguns, one of them loaded, along with ammunition, imitation firearms, a prohibited conductive energy weapon, a crossbow with arrows, an archery air gun, nearly $40,000 worth of fentanyl, more than $1,500 in cash, several cellphones and drug paraphernalia.

A search of the garage and Mercedes uncovered additional items, including a stolen 2012 Ford F-150, a mobility scooter believed to be stolen, a stolen licence plate and roughly $240 worth of psilocybin.

Calgary police say 54-year-old Robert Cvitanovic of Calgary is facing 15 charges and remains in custody until his next court appearance on Jan. 21.
