Mounties in southern Alberta have issued an arrest warrant for a man believed to be involved in a deadly hit‑and‑run on Highway 1 last summer.
Police were called around 4:10 a.m. on Aug. 25, after an abandoned, heavily damaged vehicle was found near Range Road 131, east of Brooks.
When officers arrived, they found the car with its doors open and a man dead on the roadside. The victim was later identified as 30‑year‑old Christopher Rogers of Andrew, Alta.
RCMP initially asked the public for information about a possible suspect vehicle. Investigators eventually traced a lead to Medicine Hat, where officers seized a Volkswagen Jetta from a home there.
A forensic examination of the vehicle later confirmed the presence of Rogers’ DNA, linking the car to the fatal incident.
Investigators have since identified the driver as 28‑year‑old Subham Singh. Police say Singh left Canada in late August 2025.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest on a charge of failing to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death.
