Jonathan Huberdeau’s season is over.
The Calgary Flames forward requires hip surgery and will be out for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Thursday.
“After extensive evaluation, this was determined to be the best course of action for Jonathan’s long-term health and performance,” said Flames General Manager Craig Conroy in a statement. “While it is difficult to lose a player of his calibre, our priority is ensuring he is fully healthy moving forward. Huberdeau has been managing hip-related symptoms throughout the season.
“The decision to proceed with surgery was made in collaboration with Jonathan, his representative, our medical staff, and specialists to support his long-term well being.”
Huberdeau played in the Flames’ Wednesday night victory over the Edmonton Oilers and recorded the opening goal. It was his decision to play one final game this year with Calgary, Friedman adds.
"It's great for the vibe in the room."

The 32-year-old is in the third year of an eight-year, $84 million contract running through the 2030-31 season.
Huberdeau will finish this year with 10 goals and 15 assists in 50 games.
The Flames are near the bottom of the standings with a 23-27-6 record.
