Police identify man in 50s killed in NE Calgary assault

Calgary police have identified the victim of a fatal assault in the northeast community of Rundle earlier this month.

Officers were called to a home on Rundlecairn Road NE at around 6:20 a.m. on Feb. 13 for reports of an assault.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 50s suffering from life‑threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Following an autopsy, the victim has now been identified as 51‑year‑old Troy Ernest Gouchee.

Police arrested a man at the scene and said the incident appeared targeted, with no outstanding suspects.

Investigators announced that 64‑year‑old Cecil Lapp has been charged with second‑degree murder.
