Crews were called to Calgary’s ring road Tuesday morning to douse a semi truck that caught on fire.

Callers to the 660 NewsRadio traffic centre spotted the flames just after 7:30 a.m. on northbound Stoney Trail just past the Nose Hill Drive overpass in the northwest.

Smoke could be seen on area traffic cameras a short time later as the fire was put out.

Alex Kwan with the Calgary Fire Department says nearby crews could see the smoke from the hall.

“There was just one occupant. The driver stated that they were driving, hit a bump, and suddenly saw a bunch of lights flash on their dash and saw smoke coming out,” he said. “So, they were able to pull over to the side of the road.”

Kwan says that no one was injured.
