Driver extricated from vehicle after crash with power pole on Stoney Trail NE

One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries after their vehicle hit a power pole on Stoney Trail NE Sunday night.

Police say it happened just after 9:30 p.m. on southbound Stoney Trail NE near the 16 Avenue NE exit.

After striking the pole, the driver became pinned and the Calgary Fire Department had to extricate them.

They have since been upgraded to stable condition.

Traffic on the ramp onto westbound 16 Avenue from Stoney was shut down for several hours but has since returned to normal.
