Calgary police are asking the public to help find a man accused in two violent attempted carjackings last week.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, a woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of her vehicle near 9 Avenue and 1 Street SE when a man opened her door and threatened to kill her.
Police say she was able to get away from her vehicle with her keys in hand.
The man got in the vehicle but wasn’t able to get it started.
He then got out and started approaching other vehicles in oncoming traffic.
About 45 minutes later, the same man approached another parked vehicle on 7 Street and 6 Avenue SW and opened the driver’s door, forcibly removing the woman before getting inside.
Again, the man wasn’t able to start the vehicle because the driver still had the keys.
He stole the woman’s purse before running away.
The suspect is described as 30 to 40 years old, with light skin, short brown hair, and a beard.
At the time of the incidents, he was wearing a black ball cap with a light-coloured brim, black track pants with white accents, black sneakers, and a black ‘Reebok’ hoodie with a white triangle logo on the front.
Anyone with information about this man or these incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
