Downtown Calgary condo evacuated as police search for wanted person

A downtown Calgary condo tower was evacuated Thursday evening as armed police searched the building for a wanted person.

Residents of the UPTEN building near 10 Avenue and 1st Street SE were ordered out before 6 p.m. after officers arrived with rifles and conducted‑energy weapons visible.

Police confirmed officers are looking for a wanted individual inside and are going through the building floor by floor.

No further information will be released while the situation is ongoing.
