Foggy first day of spring for Calgary

Friday marks the first day of spring in the city, and Calgarians are waking up to fog and mist.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a yellow fog advisory for the area.
It says dense fog with near zero visibility will clear later this morning.
Traffic will likely be impacted and drivers are asked to turn on their lights, slow down, and maintain a safe distance.
First day of spring
As of 8:46 a.m., the season officially flips from winter to spring, also known as the spring equinox or vernal equinox.
This happens when the sun crosses the celestial equator going south to north, according to the Farmers’ Almanac.
During the March equinox, the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere get roughly equal amounts of sunlight; the Almanac explains this is because neither hemisphere is tilted more toward or away from the sun than the other.
The amount of daylight will continue to increase until the summer solstice in June.
