No April Fools’ joke: Calgary expecting more spring snow this week

A so-far snowy spring for Calgary will continue into April with another round of snowfall expected this week.

660 NewsRadio meteorologist Kevin Stanfield says a “Montana clipper” is poised to dump more snow on the city beginning Wednesday evening.

“The City of Calgary faces down another 10 to 15 centimetres of snow, most of which will fall through Thursday,” Stanfield said, adding that wind gusts throught the day could make for difficult travel.

“Drivers beware, it’s going to be a slower day on the roads.”

The storm continues what has already been a snowy start to spring. Residents woke up to fresh snow Monday morning, and parts of the city were hit with a surprise storm last week that dropped up to 25 centimetres in some parts.

Some relief from the winter conditions is on the horizon with Environment Canada calling for more spring-like weather heading into the Easter long weekend.

Sunshine and temperatures are expected to climb into the double digits by Saturday, after a high of around 7 C on Good Friday.
