Police look to return urn found during SW Calgary home reno

A hunt is underway to find the next of kin of a man whose cremated remains were found during a southwest Calgary home renovation.

Calgary police say late last month, a contractor came into the District 6 office to turn in a wooden cremation urn.

He apparently found it while renovating a vacant home in the area of 58 Avenue and Macleod Trail in Windsor Park.

Engraved on the box is ‘Claude Prenovost 1951-2022.’

Investigators say several attempts to contact and locate family have been unsuccessful.

The hope is appealing to the public will result in reuniting the urn with loved ones.

Anyone with information about the urn is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
