Five charged after violent confinement, killing in Lethbridge apartment

Police in Lethbridge have charged five people with first-degree murder after a man in his 20s was found dead inside an apartment last month.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment complex on 7A Avenue South, just south of downtown, around 6:30 a.m. on March 27 for reports of an assault.

Officers found a 27-year-old man unresponsive inside one of the units. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lethbridge police say the victim was inside the apartment with a 22-year-old woman when multiple people arrived, forcibly confined him, assaulted him, and choked him.

Investigators believe the attack was targeted, planned, and all five involved were known to the victim.

Two men were arrested one day after the attack. On March 30, police executed a search warrant at a home on Mt. Crandell Crescent in the city’s west end and arrested a third man. On Apr. 2, a fourth man was found and arrested by officers.

A 22-year-old woman turned herself in at a police station on Apr. 8. Police say they are not seeking any additional suspects.

Darcy Andrew Medicine Crane, 43, Jordan Frank North Peigan, 27, Nicholas Rodney Scout, 42, Bradley Stephen Paskiuski, 40, and Emma Ryann Scott, 22, all of Lethbridge, have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder.

All five remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court over the coming weeks.

The investigation is ongoing.
