One person is dead after an assault in a southwest Calgary neighbourhood on Wednesday morning.
Officers say they responded to reports of a serious assault at a home on Woodview Drive SW in the community of Woodlands at around 5:40 a.m.
They say the victim was believed to have been injured during the assault and later died of their injuries.
Investigators believe the incident wasn’t random.
Calgary police closed Woodview Drive between Woodhill Court and Woodpark Boulevard for the investigation. They also closed access to a strip mall at 523 Woodpark Boulevard.
No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Christy Kloepper, who recently moved into the area with her family, says the incident has made her “terrified to leave the house,” something she didn’t expect coming from Wolf Willow.
“We just moved here into this area because we thought it was a safer place to bring up our little guy,” she said.
“Seeing our street blocked off, my fiancé’s car is blocked off, so you can’t even go to work because it’s a crime scene. It’s not exactly what we like in the first two months of living in this area.”
In the meantime, police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
